Canyoning shoes are functional footwear specifically designed for canyoning and various amphibious outdoor activities.  Their core purpose is to address problems such as slippery rocks, wading through water, and impacts from loose stones, while also providing drainage, slip resistance, quick drying, and protection. They differ from ordinary athletic shoes and sandals.

Core Design and Performance

Upper: Mostly made of high-density engineered mesh/quick-drying synthetic materials, with large mesh areas + side drainage channels for quick water entry and exit; some professional models have anti-scratch coatings; equipped with drawstring/quick-release systems to prevent laces from loosening and causing trips, and to facilitate quick adjustment with wet hands.

Sole: Wet-grip formula rubber (such as Columbia Omni-Grip, KEEN's abrasion-resistant rubber), deep-grooved biomimetic patterns + self-cleaning design to prevent mud and sand buildup; midsole commonly uses EVA cushioning for both elasticity and weight reduction; the sole has drainage holes to accelerate water and fine sand drainage; the toe area generally has TPU reinforcement to protect toes from rock impacts.

Quick-Drying and Lining: Removable honeycomb/drainage insoles to reduce water accumulation; the lining is mostly made of antibacterial and quick-drying fabric to inhibit odor; some models do not have a thick waterproof membrane (which would hinder drainage), prioritizing "quick entry and exit" for dryness.
